Infernal Basics is a series centered around building techniques and developing make-up skills from
ground zero. The topic for the day is Contouring. Contouring is not new and has been used for long
by the Trans Community and Drag-Queens. It was greatly in practice by the Men who wanted to manipulate
their features and experience feminism rather the the the usual Women of the society. But the off-late
celebrity influence and social-media rage gave this practice a boost and made it a trend. So much so
that now it is the necessary step in every womens’/mens’ glam session.
It can be really a challenge for a beginner in make-up to understand contouring. Honestly it was a
challenge for me as well to create this video as I wanted to produce something that would help all.
What people fail to realize is that Contouring is very individual and specific. The steps might be
similar but where and what to contour and till what extent, what color palette to for is something
that honestly cant be explained or learnt in one video. But there has to be a start and this is the
First-Step to Contouring. I tried creating this video in a way that seemed most helpful, detailed and
I do not believe in any ideal face shape or any universally ideal feature, I firmly believe that there
CANNOT be any one IDEAL face or definition of beauty. With over 6 billion living and alive in this
world ,beauty cannot be standardized. But I have definitely referred to ideal shapes in my video just
‘cos that is what most ladies want to learn.
But I would really love you to take from it the TECHNICAL aspect as sometimes knowing these ways around
things and make-up tricks can be really useful, rather than adopting the STANDARD concept of beauty,
‘cos ladies; There ain’t One !
Love you. XOXO 😀
