How the Red Cross & Red Crescent help | Mental Health In Violence & War

More than one out of five people in in conflict-affected areas live with some form of mental health condition, from mild depression and anxiety to post-traumatic stress disorder. That is three times more than the general population worldwide suffering from these conditions.

For World Mental Health Day, the International Committee of the Red Cross is calling on all States to prioritize mental health and psychosocial support in situations of violence and armed conflict. It is critical to the first wave of humanitarian assistance, and an integral component in domestic and international emergency response systems.
