[I give a little lesson in Malay folklore in the beginning, so feel free to skip to the 02:10min mark if you’re just here for the makeup. Also, apologies for the quality of the lighting. This was the first video I filmed in the series and I hadn’t yet figured out how to lock the exposure on my phone -_-“]
DISCLAIMER (because I forgot to include on in the video): Any blood and gore that you see in my videos is FAKE! It’s either SFX makeup or edible chocolate blood and food colouring. Yum!
This week’s look is inspired by South East Asian folklore and #glamandgore (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoziFm3M4sHDq1kkx0UwtRw). Mykie’s got some amazing videos, and if you aren’t already watching her channel…why aren’t you?!
I’m wearing the same lace front wig in both looks. It’s from #evahairofficial (www.evahair.com). Contacts are from #uniqso (www.uniqso.com).
As always, I’m not a professional and I’m not sponsored. So when I mention #UniversalStudiosSingapore and #HalloweenHorrorNights, it’s because I’ll be going there myself on Halloween. Or that’s the plan anyways -crosses fingers-
DIY edible blood recipe:
– chocolate powder OR Milo
– maple syrup
– red food colouring
The quantity of each ingredient in this recipe may change depending on how much “blood” you need and how watery or coagulated you want it to be. I used eye power and agaration and came up with a formula that suits my needs.
I usually start with about 3 teaspoons of chocolate powder (or one packet of Milo). I then add a tablespoon of maple syrup as I find this makes the initial mixing process a lot easier. I then slowly add the cornstarch until my “blood” mixture is just a little thicker than I want the final product to be. I add about a tablespoon of red food colouring to that, which will water the “blood” down even more. I’ve found that if you let this “blood” mixture sit for a while, the chocolate powder/Milo will cause it to thicken, which makes for great coagulated blood (it’s what I used in my zombie video). And you only need to stir it up again to return it to a more liquidy consistency.
