Another health time bomb looms in Zimbabwe as the rainy season sets in. Prospects of water born diseases outbreaks are high.
Officials fear they may be difficult to contain due to a lack of access to drinkable water coupled with a lack of human and financial resources. The country is also dealing with shortages of essential medicines. The doctors’ strike which has gone on for more than 80 days has hampered people’s access to already limited vital health services.
There have already been 5 800 cases of typhoid recorded in 2019.
