Measles: Health Ministry warns people travelling to Pacific

The Health Ministry will be reminding doctors all people under 18 years old can get a free measles jab in New Zealand regardless of their citizenship, after a Samoan toddler was reportedly turned down for vaccination at an Auckland clinic.

The unvaccinated 15-month-old was on a flight back to Samoa on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health is also warning passengers to think carefully about travel to areas infected with measles including Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and the Philippines.

Lisa Owen speaks with the Director General of Health, Dr Ashley Bloomfield, and asked if he would take an unvaccinated child to any of those places.
